Between two rivers

Najempaim Playa is located between the Upano River and the Najembaimi River, forming a small natural corridor between the Kutukú mountain range and the Amazonian valley.

Regenerating Forest

A large part of the land maintains natural vegetation with native trees, a dense understory and the natural regeneration of the Amazon rainforest.

Biodiversity Observation

The project aims to document the local flora and fauna and to support studies on biodiversity and forest regeneration.

Our Mission

Najempaim Playa was created with the intention of conserving a small biodiversity corridor between the Upano River and the Najembaimi River, within the surrounding landscape of the Kutukú-Shaimi Protected Forest.

The land is conceived as a place of respect for the Amazon rainforest, for observing the landscape and for following the natural regeneration of the forest.

The aim is not to intensively transform the territory, but rather to understand it, care for it and allow it to remain alive for future generations.

The Place

Najempaim Playa is an Amazonian property located in Logroño, Morona Santiago, Ecuador.

The land extends between the Upano River and the Najembaimi River, a mountain stream that descends from the Kutukú mountain range.

Within just two hectares several natural environments can be found: riverside forest, regenerating rainforest, humid areas and a black sand beach at the point where the Najembaimi flows into the Upano.

This combination of water, forest and terrain creates a small ecological corridor that is particularly interesting for Amazonian biodiversity.

Biodiversity

The surroundings of Najempaim Playa form part of the Amazonian landscape of the Kutukú mountain range.

The presence of the Upano River and the Najembaimi River creates different natural microenvironments where trees, birds, insects, amphibians and other species of the tropical forest coexist.

The natural regeneration of the forest makes it possible to observe how vegetation evolves and how different species use this small ecological corridor between the mountains and the valley.

Research and Collaboration

Najempaim Playa aims to become a small space for ecological observation and monitoring of the regenerating Amazon rainforest.

The project is open to collaboration with students, researchers and people interested in documenting the biodiversity of the area through inventories of flora and fauna, field observations and studies on forest regeneration.
