Biodiversity
Biodiversity of Najempaim Playa
The surroundings of Najempaim Playa form part of the Amazonian landscape of the Kutukú mountain range, a region characterized by its high biological diversity.
The presence of the Upano River, the Najembaimi River, and the regenerating forest creates different microenvironments where numerous species of plants, birds, insects, amphibians and small mammals coexist.
Although the property is relatively small, its location between the river and the mountains makes it an interesting place to observe the natural processes of the Amazon rainforest.
Vegetation and Forest Regeneration
Much of the land maintains natural vegetation typical of the Amazon rainforest.
The forest is in different stages of regeneration, with the presence of young trees, dense understory, lianas and plants typical of humid environments.
The proximity to the Kutukú-Shaimi Protected Forest facilitates the constant arrival of seeds transported by wind, water or animals.
Fauna
The combination of forest, water and wet areas creates favorable conditions for different species of wildlife.
In this type of Amazonian environment it is common to find birds, insects, amphibians and small mammals associated with riverside forests and mountain ecosystems.
The permanent presence of water in the Najembaimi River and the Upano River particularly favors the diversity of amphibians and insects.
Observation and Documentation
Najempaim Playa aims to become a small place for observing and documenting local biodiversity.
Through photographs, species inventories, and the work of students or researchers, the project seeks to record the evolution of the regenerating forest and the species that use this natural corridor between the Kutukú mountain range and the Upano valley.
