Research and Forest Observation

Najempaim Playa aims to become a small space for ecological observation within the Amazonian landscape of the Upano River valley.

Its location between the Upano River, the Najembaimi River, and the Kutukú mountain range makes it possible to observe the natural processes of forest regeneration and the presence of different species of flora and fauna.

The property is managed under a non-intervention regime (no clearing of undergrowth) to favor natural regeneration and ecological succession processes.

Biodiversity Studies

The surroundings of the property offer opportunities to carry out different types of observations and studies related to Amazonian biodiversity, such as:

  • inventories of tree and plant species

  • bird observation

  • photographic records of wildlife

  • monitoring of forest regeneration

  • studies on riverside ecosystems.

These activities can contribute to improving the understanding of the natural landscape of this area of the Ecuadorian Amazon.

Collaboration with Students

Najempaim Playa is open to collaboration with students, researchers and people interested in documenting the biodiversity of the area.

The project can serve as a working space for field practices, species inventories or small studies on forest regeneration and Amazonian ecology.

The permanent presence of water in the Najembaimi River and the Upano River particularly favors the diversity of amphibians and insects.

Recording Observations

Observations carried out at Najempaim Playa may be documented through photographs, species lists or field reports that contribute to building a small record of the natural landscape and its evolution over time.

Najempaim Playa is a small place within a much larger ecosystem, where careful observation of nature can contribute to understanding the dynamics of the Amazon rainforest.
